I have a 1986 Vette, all of a sudden it revs very high and won't go down any. What can the problem be?

My 1986 Vette is having a problem all of a sudden when I start it it runs really.high, 2400 rpms. And it doesn't go down. The only thing I have done is spray some WD40 on the accelerator cable.

Have the sensors checked. Something is out of whack and the computer is getting a wrong message. Look very closely and see if you can find any lose wires or hoses. Did you spray the WD-40 after it raced or before?

hello again , getting ready to change my thermostat in my 1990 corvette c-4, stock L-98, due to overheating problems. someone told me, it would be ok to put in a cooler 160, rather than the 180, might come on quicker, in traffic, etc. is this a good idea? will it effect other things in the car? can anybody help with this? only had the car a week,and have a handful of issues already, this one, need to fix first..... love the car !! any vette people out there? 84 vette wont start unless. run a bridge from the battery to the distributor. Once star i can disconnect and it runs fine. 2 Answers

It sounds like I hear the fuel pump kick in when I make the bridge. Also it runs fine until I shut it off and the i have to bridge it again.
