Basically, the ECU controls engine functions. The TCU controls a car’s automatic transmission. It gathers information on how fast your vehicle is going and uses that data to determine what gear your car should be in.

If there's wires going to the tranny then probably yes , if there's a vacuum hose or linkage then no .That's my take on it .

The wiring diagram from the ECM says no electronic connection to the transmission.
