My 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara's check engine goes on and off and when it goes on, the oil gauge drops to zero and the jeep just barely drives. It does this after about five miles.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

1999 wrangler's engine light comes on and goes off. When it comes on, after
driving about 5 miles, the oil gauge drops to zero and the jeep just chugs
along. I got an oil change and it ran great for about two days, now the same
old thing.

Get a reading on the code to see what it says. Did you change the filter and the oil or just the oil? A collapsed filter could cause low oil pressure. If you really have low oil pressure, driving the car will ruin the engine.
