Engine failure on my BMW X3

Asked by Guru9DH218 Nov 08, 2020 at 12:09 AM about the 2013 BMW X3 xDrive28i AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I own a BMW 2013 X3 and recently experienced
engine failure due to a oil pressure low light on my
car. I was told the oil pump chain broke and it
would cost $14,000 to replace the engine. Yes, the
engine needs to be replaced. My car has 143,000
miles on it. I’d experienced issues with the engine
the last three years and I considered trading it and
never did. Now I’m stuck with a broken car. I’m
interested in the class action lawsuit as well.

2013 X3 28i with 120,000 km. Driving on a busy ontario highway last weekend and got a low oil pressure alert. Drove another 40 metres to get on a shoulder and the engine is seized. Almost blindly bought an X5 but glad I stumbled on this thread.
