re programming ECM to upgrade to 315 hp 1997 Vortec 5.7. Is it problematic?

Asked by Bruce90020 Oct 27, 2014 at 09:10 AM about the 1997 Chevrolet C/K 1500 WT RWD

Question type: General

I have a 1997 K1500 z71 w 335k, original engine. I am original owner. Runs great! (100% synthetic oil every 3500m). I want to rebuild to 315hp. That will require ECM reprogram. Has anyone else had good/bad experience doing this? My plan is sending truck to well know engine shop. (Last step in truck renovation)

My experience is this. I had a F350 diesel with the 7.3. I had the ECU reprogrammed to 325 HP. No other modification. What a difference!
