Car wont start. Just clicks 1 time.

Asked by James Jul 25, 2020 at 03:18 PM about the 1994 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

have a 1994 Camaro with the 3.L V6 in it. I bought it though i ran it out of gas
and it would start for like a couple of seconds and die. Then it stopped starting
all together. So I put some gas in it and the battery is got plenty of juice but it
just clicks once.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if you fried your gas pump too? I like Delfi for my Ford. Always keep your pump wet. No need to drain your tank out. Its nothing but issues will cost money

Switch on the headlights and try to start it. If the headlights stay nice and bright it's the starter, neutral safety switch, or a security system problem. Try starting it in neutral. Also try hitting the starter a few times with a hammer. If the headlights go out or dim and flicker badly it's a bad battery cable connection. Check the battery cables and make sure everything is clean and tight at both ends. Once you get it cranking again see if you can hear the fuel pump. If not, try hitting the bottom center of the gas tank with a hammer. If that gets you going it's a bad fuel pump. Hope that helps! Jim
