What's the difference between the 1998 Volkswagen Beetle and the New Beetle? I keep seeing them on the same websites and can't distinguish which is which or, are they one and the same?

What's the difference between the 1998 Volkswagen Beetle and the New Beetle? I keep seeing them on the same websites and can't distinguish which is which or, are they one and the same?

The "New Beetle" came out many years ago. The old Beetle stopped production in the '70's for the U.S., but was still made in Mexico for Mexican use until about the time the "New Beetle" came out.
