2006 f-150 abs problem

Asked by Chris Aug 16, 2020 at 09:58 AM about the 2006 Ford F-150 XL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I start the engine of my 2006 f-150 the abs light comes on and after a
second or two goes off. The way it should be. But when I start driving, the abs
engage at any speed (not only at low speed). The warning light is still off. After
a few minutes drive the abs shots off and the warning light comes on. Any
suggestions?
Thanks.

I suspect a wheel sensor, there is one for each wheel. Remove the sensor for each wheel and clean the tip and check the electrical wires leading back to the control unit for damage. If you have access to a scan tool which will check the ABS system, use it while the vehicle is being driven in a straight line between 15 and 20 miles per hour. It should indicate which wheel is having the problem.
