Vibrating upon hard start up.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 91 pontiac grand prix 93k miles on it
in amazing shape. Here lately I have noticed
my car starts a little rougher when it is
warmed up, the idle is worse than normal
but not terrible, and upon accelerating it
shakes what it feels like is the engine, it gets
worse once it shifts into 3rd gear and I have
to pull over and restart it and that fixes it.
Please help.

Your car probably needs a tune up. Your car is probably OBD1 so get the codes read or do it yourself.

I have brand new plugs, do I need a full tune up or would that be enough? No codes are thrown.

Yes, a full tune up is the first thing you need to do. New spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor rotor and distributor cap. Also check for weak spark once the engine is warmed up. Could be a failing ignition control module or ignition coil. Your car needs to have a tune up every 30 months or 30,000 miles. Whichever comes first. So at 93,000 miles your right at the tune up interval. HTH. -Jim
