How do I get out the check engine light on a 1993 ford explore also repair the speed odometer meter which is not moving

If the speedometer is not working then the odometer is not working also. I've repaired a couple of these and they are not easy. Within the instrument cluster there are two plastic gears which operated the speedometer and odometer. One, usually the larger one, has a broken tooth or two on the cog. The instrument cluster has to come out and disassembled from the rear to access the defective part. The gears are about the size of the width of a cigarette. I purchased them on line for about twenty bucks and are worth about twenty cents. Replacing the gears is not difficult but the needle for the speedometer must be removed. After putting it back together, you will have to have the speedometer recalibrated to indicate the correct speed. At a price of course. You can recalculate it yourself but you need comeone in a pace vehicle and a long stretch of vacant road. Pace the car in front at 30 mph and have a passenger apply the needle at the 30 mph designation while you drive. It will probably take two or three tries to gain success. Or you can go to a junk yard and get a cluster.
