Chevy Silverado won't stay running, it starts and can be driven but then dies and won't start again for a while.

Im not 100% sure as I dont work on these very often, but I remember someone telling me that these trucks wont run if the oil pressure sensor doesnt see pressure. Check your oil level. Check the pressure sensor. Youre fuel theory is plausible. Go get a fuel pressure test kit and monitor the fuel pressure while its running up until its dies and then for five minutes afterward. Pressure should stay very consistent with almost no drop the whole time.

my grand caravan did the same thing and my mechanic said it was due to a leaking water pump - car runs great now
Water pump has nothing to do with your car staying and dying, someone took your money to fix something small. Joe have you checked fuel pressure yet?
Truck was fixed with fuel filter.
