All activation buttons stopped for doors

I recently got a 2008 Toyota Sienna.  Yesterday all the buttons that open the
side doors and rear quit working.  The remote on the fob didn't work nor the
buttons inside the van.
I operated them manually and drove home.  the driver side door said it was
open during the drive but it wasn't when I first had the problem.  After I
stopped and closed that door, all the buttons work again.
I am wondering if this will be an intermittent problem or maybe I just missed
something.  Any advice?

Those doors have sensors and they age and go out of alignment. By reclosing the door, and I suspect with a slam, you got the sensor to work again. Maybe you knocked off some dirt. People who buy cars that old need to know enough about cars to fix them or you'll be left to having mechanics fix them, and that will be often. Maybe you should stick to new cars... Really.
