Advice on EMPI "Short Throw" shifters?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My original VW shifter in worn, or even worn out, on my '72 Beetle. I bought the Nylon bushing that is a common wear item. If that does not take care of the problem, I'm considering replacing the whole shifter with a EMPI short throw shifter. Anyone here knowledgeable about those? Thanks!

They seem to be a popular after market shifter. It could be that they are the best of a few choices. See what owners are suggesting at these forums. -- http://www.vwforum.com/forums/f18/ --- http://forums.vwvortex.com/forumdisplay.php?9-Air-cooled
