Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok I wrecked my 1998 Silverado and now I need
to put my engine into another body. Now my
question is can I put my engine and trans into a
1999 body, regardless of what engine was
previously in it. I will be taking the complete
engine; starter, alternator, etc. So will this work for
me.

The only way that will work is if you transfer all the electronics, wiring harnesses from your wrecked truck into the later model truck. If you don't you will experience electronic incompatibilities.

The second generation for the C/K was 1967-1972, so the 1998 and 1999 might be the same, again if they are the same engines/transmissions. Check the numbers on the blocks and casings to be sure. That's the only way this will work. If numbers don't match, the cost to do this will exceed the worth of the truck.
