94 firebird turns over doesn't start.

Asked by Drake Jan 25, 2019 at 03:24 PM about the 1994 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Turns over. New fuel pump recently. Can hear it
running. Injectors seem to to be working. Just died
on me as I was stopping. Some tell me to spray
starting fluid in the carb... Any ideas? Can smell
gas in oil stronger than probably should

If you have fuel injectors, you don't have a carb so ditch that idea. You may have low fuel pressure. Was your replacement rated properly for you engine? Have the fuel pressure checked to make sure you are getting enough pressure at the fuel rail and injectors. Since you are smelling strong fuel odors, you might also check to be sure you are getting spark. Ignition parts like rotor, cap, ignition control module, coil, etc might be suspect.
