98 Oldsmobile Bravada electrical question

Asked by Olivia Jun 19, 2018 at 05:02 PM about the 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada 4 Dr STD AWD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We have a 98 Oldsmobile Bravada. We were driving
down the road and all the gauges went haywire
and then the whole thing just died. When u try and
start it, u can hear the fuel pump kick on but it
won't start up. When it does start up all the gauges
work and when it won't start up nothing works.
Whats going on with this thing? My husband is
great with mechanical work. He said it's not the
fuses and not a bad ground.

It started up once and then died again about a minute later and all the lights were working on the dash before it died again

Well,It sounds like a fuel issue,It starts runs and dies,if it was electrical it wouldn't start at all.

You need to find out if fuel is getting up to the rail, injectors, and into motor.

Okay. He said he is gonna take it to his uncle auto shop tomorrow where he can have the tools he needs to check everything.

Mine did the same thing. I bypassed the security system and it worked. My friend had to do the same thing.
