It's been many years, but here is what I remember. The torque converter has to be installed in in a certain fashion. I was watching when the tranny guy re installed mine a dozen or so years ago. Seems he put in on turned it until it clicked, then shoved it rearward then turned it again. NOt exact, but something along those lines.
