while driving my 1999 Nissan Maxima my battery light and brake light come on and stayed on. What can cause this to happen?

First check your alternator by removing battery cable from battery while car is running,this will rule out if alternator is bad,if car run,s with it off your alternator is good,now for the brakes,check fluid,if fluid is good check brake,s.

T_S_T.... horrible idea. Could cost a few grand to fix the damage caused by disc'ing the batt lead while the engine runs.
