Wont start

I have 99 Nissan Maxima and today all the sudden
it started flickering the dash lights the oil light and
all that started flickering and the gauges we're
going up and down and now it won't start, what
could that be?

Sounds like a charging system issue,alternator may have failed and battery went dead. Have system checked.
