I suspect there will eventually be an aftermarket program to reduce this problem. Drive by wire is not a good idea in my opinion,

Purchased a 2019 XLE and noticing same slow acceleration during 1st 1 or 2 gears. To me this seems to be a design flaw. Service department might end up saying it's functioning as designed but have not taken back to Toyota service yet.

Same here. Purchased 2019 Camry XSE during summer Toyotathon Sale. Right away noticed the sluggish/delayed acceleration. I have a 4 cylinder Accord that launches from a dead stop compared to the Camry. I wish I’d known about this before hand. It’s just a commuter car but a little “get up and go” is necessary at times. Hoping Toyota offers an aftermarket fix.

I have a 2019 SE and can’t handle the horrible delay. I had the 2017 SE prior to this purchase and it drove so much nicer. Toyota needs to fix this ASAP. Just the other day I made a U turn (as there are many in my city) the car completed stopped and with my foot to the floor, nothing happened. I almost got hit because how long it took to respond!

I leased a new 2019 Camry XSE V6 two weeks ago and am experiencing intermittent acceleration delay. I brought this to the attention of my dealer and I am bringing it in to their service department tomorrow morning. It will be interesting to see what they do or say particularly when I bring to their attention all of the postings relative to acceleration delay. Other than that, my car is great. This is my 3rd Camry V6 over the past ten years and never had a problem with any my previous Camry V6's.

With respect to my recent posting about my 3-week old , 2019 Camry XSE V6 with 529 miles, I brought it into my Toyota dealer this morning and the service technician drove my car with me in the passenger seat. When I explained that my previous (3) V6 Toyota Camry's did not have any problems with acceleration, he totally understood. My 2019 Camry has an 8-speed transmission vs my 6-speed transmission in my 2017. The new 8- speed transmission has different shift settings which explains the acceleration delay and sometimes causes a jerky motion from a dead stop, driving in stop & go traffic or while entering a highway. He also indicated that the 2018 & 2019 Camry's have new computers and software that also impacts the acceleration and jerky motion at times. According to the tech, they have been provided with no fixes for this problem and that the car will "learn" my driving habits the more I drive it ?!?

I also have a 2019 Camry XSE V6 and have the same exact issue! It’s DRIVING ME BATTY!! At first I thought it was the intuitive driving assist gone awry but after having it reset and that did help temporarily but now it’s back to high RPM’s without any acceleration at take off.

Left my 2019 Camry XSE V6 with my Toyota dealer for two days relative to my constant problems with acceleration delay. When I picked it up they claimed that they did not experience the acceleration delay which has to be BS as it continued to have the same acceleration problem after I picked up the car. In fact they told me that the "onboard computer" indicated that everything was normal and the computer showed that I was stepping on the brake at the same time as I was depressing the accelerator. What a bunch of BS as in my 50+ years of driving I have never used the brake at the same time as the accelerator. I told him that they needed to put a new computer in the car to which he laughed. The funny thing is that the 2019 Camry SE 4-cylinder they loaned to me for 2- days outperformed my V6 when depressing accelerator from a stop! Not sure what to do at this point as I don't want to be locked into my 3-year lease with a defective car.

I’m in the same exact boat as you are!! ^^ I have asked Toyota to reset my intuitive driving and at first they looked at me like I had 3 heads (I’m guessing because I’m a female) After explaining what I was referring to they did reset it and assured me that the in house recalls and the reset “fixed my complaints” All I can say is that. They. Lied! On a 40 minute drive Friday I had my RPM’s rev as high as 6000 rpms and the revs still not moving my car. After I shut it off, and drove again after about a half hour, I could not recreate it. I can only say that the lag is INSANE in this car. I owned the Lexus ES 300 years ago and see the parallel very clear! The lag in both cars is second to none.

Does anyone know who at Toyota we can contact to complain as this problem is obviously effecting many customers?

Have one sitting in the driveway that we haven’t bought yet. And wife says she can’t drive it.... Hopefully the 20 is better otherwise it’s Honda time.

Whoever is considering buying Toyota Camry please do not buy and spread the word. It's the only way Toyota Management will take action, if at all. Ever since Camry had the 8-speed transmission the slow initial acceleration is an issue. Not sure if issue started in 2017 or not but 2018 and 2109 models definitely have this issue. There has been many complaints with NTSB. Again, let's make sure as many people are informed as possible not to purchase Camry.

I have had (4) Toyota Camry SE & XSE V6 since 2010 including a 2017 XSE V6 that I recently turned in as my lease was expiring. I noticed an acceleration delay when test driving my new 2019 Camry XSE V6 but really didn't think too much of it as I assumed that the car would be checked by staff prior to my taking delivery of the car. I now have 1,500 miles on my Camry and every day I experience acceleration delay. After bringing my car in to the service department twice, over the past two months, I got the same response that there is nothing wrong with my car and that the "computer" and transmission will "learn" how I drive and adjust automatically?!? If ever there was a need for a major re-call or service bulletin, this is it! Why Toyota has a deaf ear when it comes to resolving the problem, especially when so many others have had the very same problem, makes no sense to me. After leasing (5) Toyota's this will be my last Toyota and I will NEVER recommend Toyota to any of my friends or business associates.

I have the exact same issue!! Who can we complain to at Toyota to issue a major recall on this "defect and design flaw"? I've always loved my Camry's but this is a horrible experience with a brand new 2019 Camry 219 miles!! They are going to make me a Honda owner pretty soon . . .

Good news. the Toyota Customer Experience Center determined a fix for my acceleration delay on my 2019 Toyota Camry V6 XSE. The onboard computer was reprogrammed. The Toyota Service Bulletin repair code is TSB0152-19. After re-programming, I can now leave my ECO/NORMAL/SPORT button in the ECO position without a delay in acceleration. Acceleration is also better in the NORMAL or SPORT modes. You can contact the Toyota Customer Experience Center at 800-331-4331. While my Toyota dealer had never performed this same reprogramming of the computer, they took their time (about 3-hours) to make sure it worked.

I also just got mine about a month ago and have acceleration issues es Laila when changing lanes in the highway. I would think that if a lot of consumers like us submit complaints then it may raise a red flag. Below is the link. Takes about 5 minutes. https://www- odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/

FYI, I have a '19 SE...and the SEs (and I think LEs) don't have the ECO/NORMAL/SPORT mode buttons like the XSEs. However, they do have an "ECO mode indicator" option in the settings. Now, from reading the manual and what the car says, it SEEMS like this option "should" only change whether or not the ECO mode indicator/light turns on and not actually affect the way the car drives. However, such functionality probably wouldn't make any sense, as the driver then wouldn't have any way to turn off ECO mode...but again, this what the manual and the info you get from the car SEEM to suggest... Regardless, after turning off the ECO mode indicator (again, via the settings), the car does in fact seem to be driving better now - the throttle hesitation has definitely been reduced. Also, the car isn't upshifting as quickly...and it MIGHT be downshifting quicker when I give it some gas. So, my guess is that the setting I'm referring to in SEs (and I guess LEs) does in fact turn off ECO mode, which does help the problem...though I guess it probably affects fuel economy, obviously. I'll be taking the car in for it's first service in a month or so - I plan to try to talk the dealership into performing the TSB-0152-19 service/repair to see if that makes things even better. Maybe I won't have to disable ECO mode after that...

I had TSB-0152-19 applied/performed to the car ('19 SE 2.5) yesterday at my dealership when I had it in for its first oil change. After driving it for about one day, I do think it's noticeably better now - less throttle hesitation (and what hesitation there is seems more consistent/predictable) and better/smoother gear shifting/selection at low speeds. I'll provide an update if something changes with the car, I decide it's just a placebo effect, etc....but as things stand right now, I'm pretty content with how it's driving.

Almost killed by Big Rig entering freeway at high speed. Tried to gun it and the car (under 500 miles) stalled for about 1 second with the gas peddle showing random responses. Luckily the guy in the left lane saw and allowed me to change lanes. My previous car, a Honda accord 2008, would have blown past the rig and left it in the dust. I also find the car to be small. More like a civic but they compare it to the accord. It’s hard to see when I turn my head before changing lanes.

Just posting an update: After driving the car for a few weeks after having TSB-0152-19 done, I'm now convinced it fixed the problem (or at least fixed the problem enough so that it's no longer a noticeable issue). Also, I still think the ECO mode indicator option actually toggles ECO mode...but after the TSB fix, I think the car drives fine with ECO mode on.

I have the same problem with my 2019 Camry SE. Sounds like the update is the way to go. It takes about 1 full second to respond after hitting the gas hard. Not good if you are in a tricky situation. Dangerous if you ask me.. I will get the update with my next oil change, which will be a while since hardly driving these days..

I have 2019 Camry and my car almost got us in 2 accidents by the hesitation pulling into traffic. we had the dealer look at it and they said Toyota knows about it and the fix is to reprogram the computer. Why did they not call a recall on this is beyond me. they will when it kills someone.

Wow. That is bad. I am not due for service for a while, but I am going to bring it in for the update. I am starting to regret buying the car. I only bought it since my last Camry did over 300K miles.

I have the same issue in my 2019 Camry SE. I've brought it up twice with the Toyota Dealer. They said they are aware and don't have a fix yet. I love my Camry otherwise, but this is ridiculous - and not safe!

I just want to be counted as one more. Wish I listened to the reviews prior. I'm not waiting for a "fix" or putting any aftermarket throttle gizmo on it. That is exactly why I wanted to go with toyota in the first place...no problems and no need to alter things to bring the vehicle to normal standards. I can't drive this thing. I'd rather drive my old work truck to get groceries. I'm trading it in before this becomes overly known about...but I still want the awerness. I purchased it with 10k miles on the clock. Possibly owned by one of the previous posters (you did warn me) If your still looking for a 19 xse...there will be one more on the lot soon...18k miles, like new.

Toyota KNOWS they have a problem and they do NOT have a fix! We EAGERLY bought a new 2019 Camry SE-Amazing On the highway-felt like my prior Lexus ES350 but detected the sluggish low speed rolling acceleration problem immediately. It was like the car could not decide what to do. Very sluggish, sometimes very uncomfortable. They told me to punch the accelerator-WTF? I even paid to have the injectors cleaned (to rule that out) and that was not the cause either. We had the car 30 months and after the 2nd fuel pump did not resolve the issue, we traded (with only 20,000 miles) for a Cadillac. We've purchased 4Toyotas and 4 Lexus in the last 15 years and now Toyota won't acknowledge they have problem? That doesn't work for us. A service manager (who shall remain nameless) told me [off the record] he thinks the 8sp electronic transmission is the problem-it's getting confused and doesn't downshift properly when coasting. That's all I had to hear-we're done! Not gonna pay 30k and drive a car that feels like a gocart (with a clogged carburetor) rounding corners. I imagine this will be a huge expense for Toyota someday, either in repairs or loyalty reduction. Sad-the car was sbsolutely beautiful-this was a huge letdown.
