You may need to clean throtle body,if that does not help,check fuel pressure,may be clogged fuel filter,or sign,s of fuel pump going bad.

The PCv valve hose boot on the back of the intake degrades from heat and collapses or tears. I just performed the repair on this piece after havin the same symptoms. It's a common repair and the part is available at autozone for ten dollars. The repair took less than ten minutes. Google search for "98 expedition Pcv boot repair"
