air leak

I have a carburated, Chevy 350 motor with a rough idle.  While doing a leak-down test, I heard air leaking through  to the opposite cylinder, on the other side of the engine.  Could this indicate a cracked or leaking intake manifold or worse?

What were the results of the leak down test on that other cylinder? Good? Bad? It's not that hard to pull an intake manifold and check it. I can't imagine air transiting via a cracked intake into an opposite side cylinder though... I'd recheck valve timing and also check air wasn't escaping the tested cylinder via piston rings into crankcase, then out the other cylinder (which would like be at the bottom of it's stroke) with exhaust valve open, normally air leaking into crankcase is detected coming out breather, or not heard escaping at all (if no breather), but just by a loss of pressure. Does your engine have a breather valve?
