On my way home yesterday all of a sudden my 2017 Chevy Cruze started to
lose power and the Stabilitrak and engine light came on...lost power and the
car shakes when driving...what is wrong? Is it an easy fix? How much will this
cost me?.

It could be a misfire or any other issue. Since the Check engine light is on and other ones, scan for the trouble codes with a OBDii code scanner. An auto parts store can do it for free if you don't want to purchase one or borrow one.

I literally just went over 36K...36,500 to be exact..do you think the dealer will make an exception?? Also I still have a 60K Powertrain warranty...doesn’t that cover everything wrong with the engine?

I am around 24000 miles and it just happened to me. ONSTAR messaged us and said there is an emissions problem as well. My 2017 Cruze is going in tomorrow luckily it is within the 3 year warranty.

I own a 2017 Cruz Premier, this same EXACT thing happened to me right around 37,000 miles as well. This is RIDICULOUS!!! I have always been a Mopar girl, but I thought I would give GM a chance it being a newer car and all. What a mistake!

This happened to me a few days ago and the car also stalled out. I was slowing to stop at a light, the car shuddered and stalled. The service stabilitrak / traction control warning flashed. The car would not restart and was locked in gear. Turning the power on halfway allowed me to shift it into neutral to push it off the road. After a few minutes the car restarted and the check engine light was on. Drove and dropped at the dealership. Mechanic called and said it was an engine control unit failure and it needs to be replaced. Due to manufacturer delays, we are waiting on the part.....

This just happened to my 2017 Cruze as well. Was perfectly fine then all of the sudden the tc light came on with a message to service stabilitrak . Check engine light soon after. When I drive a few blocks itll turn off but when I come to a complete stop or accelerate it comes on again . My car has episodes of shaking ( as if i needed an alignment) and my inside light even gitters . Its sounds terrible and when the shaking is happening the engine light flashes . Im at about 40k miles .

I have to 2017 Chevy Cruze RS. Mine has done this multiple times. I’ve normally been able to shut it off, let it sit for a few mins & she starts back up just fine. Today 12/16/20 it happened again. But this time The engine shimmies, whines, completely shuts off the car. I let it sit 15 minutes. I started it again, not even a minute later it does it again & shuts off. Now it won’t turn over at all, but when they coded my car it also said “fuel pump” so idk I’m disappointed to say the least. Given I am at 117,000 miles. & manage the consistent upkeep on the car. But this is ridiculous. Cant wait for the pretty penny GM’s cost me.

So turns out I had carbon build up on the engine. They replaced pistons as well. Luckily all covered by warranty .
