Have you checked the ignition coil and the ignition control module (ICM)? Hope that helps! Jim

Does the distributor rotor turn when you crank the engine? Have you rested for power to the ignition coil and module? Make sure the coils ground strap is where it should be.

No it should be switched from the ignition switch, but yes it is battery voltage. The coil ground is connected to the ignition module via the distributor wiring harness. The module pulses the ground to make the spark from the coil.

Still need help with the ground wire. Replaced the motor grounds. What wire is the ignition ground. Still no fire

Ignition ground is through the distributor, there may also be a small black wire inside the distributor that runs to the ignition module from the distributor base inside. That looks like the oil pressure sender.

We replaced the distributor. It just has the pick up inside. I didn't have any other wires besides the ecm

Replaced ecm, coil everything checked wires and plugs. Made sure timing was right. Don't know why I have no fire. Do I need to ground the distributor to the firewall or motor? Confused Don know what else to do

If it was a re-manufactured distributor then chances are very high that they did not replace any of the electronics inside, ie pickup coil ignition module or radio suppressor. If it was a new one then you either have other wiring or switching issues.

Sometimes on a GM OBD I system a bad coolant temperature sensor will cause a no start condition. Also a bad crankshaft position sensor. But, in my opinion, it's time to take it to a shop for diagnosis. You've already spent more on parts that didn't get it running than what the diagnostic charge will be. Jim
