2000 chevy c2500 continues to run

Asked by Brian Mar 11, 2018 at 11:07 AM about the 2000 Chevrolet C/K 2500 LS LB HD RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2000 chevy c2500 Vin R is having running
issues. If I press on the accelerator it acts if it's
either not getting enough fuel or too much air. It's
like it's falling on its face. I replaced the intake
manifold gaskets, wires, plugs, cap and rotor. Now
here's the problem...when I got in the truck I
pressed on the accelerator without the key being in
the ignition and all my dash gauges came on and
the fuel pump cycled, after starting and running for
a few, I had my foot on the brake and shut the
ignition off and it continued to run until I took my
foot off the brake and then shutoff . It's not
throwing any codes.

Well it turns out the dash gauges and the fuel pump cycling is because of a bad hazard switch...when the brake is pressed , it's sending current back through the system. So one problem answered...now to figure out the rest. Truck has 406,000 miles, so it's due to give me some problems now. Lol
