emergency brake and car dies

his morning i drove to work and this bakkie swerved in front of me so i had to
pull my emergency brake but the car just died. i have an elantra 1996 1.6 gls.
the car was just dead. any help why?

its very helpfull JS08016. only thing is that I took off the battery terminals and put it back on so bat3 was suma flat? but I had to kick start the car. you said that switch is located in the boot?
