Will a thrush welded muffler make my Impreza sound nicer and louder, even when idle

Asked by Henry May 18, 2016 at 10:16 AM about the 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i SE Wagon

Question type: Car Customization

I've been looking into putting a thrush welded muffler on my subie, I know I'm
not gonna get a v8 sound on a v4, I would just like it to sound a little louder at
idle and when accelerating without being too loud inside the cabin. Or are
there any muffler that you guys recommend? Thrush is cheap and said to
have the same sound as a Magana flow 40 series for half the price

do some searching on the impreza site.. I'm sure there are tons of threads about exhaust sounds and what people like and places to source them for the best price.

A Hush Thrush Super Turbo muffler will sound good. Not too loud until you get on it. Deep mellow sound otherwise. I put one, 2.25", on my Elantra 2.0L and it sounds great.

I would look for a video with sound on Youtube to make sure it won't sound like a buzz bomb.
