Why is my car running hot

Asked by Freddie Sep 19, 2018 at 07:10 PM about the 2001 Ford Focus LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently replaced my plug wires and
radiator hose.  Before that,  my car
wasn't running hot.  Now it's running
hot.  And water comes out of the
reservoir no matter how tight the lid is.
And is spewing all under the hood.  I
turned the heater on and the temp
started coming back down.  Any idea
what this could be?

Try "burping" the cooling system. Look on Youtube for How to Purge air from a cooling system.

Check the water intake piece. If the thermostat dhas gone bad it wont open and let the water cool the engine...this causes the water pressured out of the water reserviour at high temperatures from engine block.
