Car not getting up to speed like it's stuck in 1 or second gear on rpm

Dirty gas filter or gas pump is going out on you. It wouldn't surprise me either if the transmission is going out. When mine went out it just quit shifting and the RPM just screamed. The gear band didn't want to shift. Good luck
