I have a 2015 corvette stingray that due to crimes committed against my identity, I can no longer afford to keep payments up on. I would like to trade down, because I do want a new car, however the crime committed against me has made it next to impossible to keep up with the payments. Anybody have any advice? Will dealers trade with someone with a more expensive car than they are giving you ?

That I think will be up to the dealer you are working with...I guess find the car you like and talk to the dealer and explain what happened and see if they will cut a deal like that...

I don't understand why you would be liable for identity theft. There are laws to protect people from this. $50.00 is the max you have to pay for credit card theft. Any loans are not your problem once you prove it wasn't you. To answer your question, yes, any dealer would love to buy or trade for a C7 Corvette, however you will be taking a huge loss on the price that they give you.

Fir it was identity theft your local police department should help you or send you to someone that can give you solid legal advice. Like steveq said above, lenders understand what can happen to victims of IT. Your banks also have a fraud section that can help, so the loan agency should, I said should, help and work with you also. Your credit rating is also protected if you act correctly and do the right thing. If you can afford to qualify for a new Corvette, you should not have any issues keeping it. You have to help yourself, not sit as a victim and say whoo is me.
