1987 F150 5.0 engine makes humming sound then slowly dies when weather or truck gets hot .

Have to wait 30 min to 2 hours for it to cool before it
will restart. Have replaced dist. Coil. Fuel pump.
Any help is temporary not a fix

Heard taping for about two weeks, checked oil and it was over full, the sound was like the rocker arms on the head was tapping. I was driving home when The got loud twice and truck died. Unable to start truck. When truck died, the oil dial came on and gauge on oil went under the red empty line
