When the air conditioning is on an AC request signal is sent to the computer. The computer will speed up the idle about 50 RPMs to compensate for the load of the air conditioning compressor. Same is true for the power steering. There's a power steering pressure switch that sends a signal to the computer to do the same thing when the steering wheel is turned quickly or to either stop. Doing that increases the pressure of the power steering fluid and the switch is activated. The idle speed up is handled by the IAC (idle air control) valve on the throttle body. Sounds like it's not responding. Hope that helps! Jim
