I have a 2013 Honda CR-V. After I've been driving for awhile, this noise starts--sounds something like when ping-pong balls are being "scrambled" for a Bingo game--kind of a popping/gurgling noise.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It's not part of the engine noise I'm pretty sure. It goes when I have my foot
on the gas, and starts to fade somewhat when I take my foot off the gas.  But,
as I said earlier, it doesn't start until I've been driving awhile-- at least 15 to 20
minutes. Any ideas? It's very annoying and I wud like to get rid of it! Thank u.

sounds like the ceramic element in the catalytic converter is coming apart. they're tight until the casing starts to heat and expand, then they will make noise with accel/decel actions.another noise you will get is if gravel gets between the heat shield and the casing, also check for a broken weld on the heat shield.

Awesome--thanks so much--will have my Honda mechanic check the things u have mentioned. :-)

Hey! So 2013 CRV is doing this exact same noise where it sounds like ping pong balls, only after it’s been running for 15-20 and upon letting my foot off the gas. I’m hoping you’ll see this comment, because your post is one of the only I’ve found that was exactly what I was looking for. Did you ever get it looked at and if so, what was it?
