Some time ago we purchased a 2009 G37X sedan. We traded it in 5 years later with 60,000 miles on it. The car was problem free and never once returned to the dealership for anything. I did 5,000 mile oil changes using Mobil1. The car was comfortable and very powerful with 328 HP. The sound system which was Bose was not great, but other than that my wife liked the car very much.
I've got an 2010 Infiniti G37 Journey coupe right now and i love it. i recently had a child so i'm currently selling it for four doors. They are great cars. Fast, great sound system, very reliable and pretty spacious for a two door car. I've had it for 3 years and have never had a problem with it at all. Test drove a sport though and was a much rougher ride. Journey is the way to go.
The '09-13 G37 will go down in history as one of the most reliable chariots extant. I've owned an '09 G37x from '10-15 that didn't need ANYTHING, and after thoroughly searching the off-lease and auction offerings (I'm in the biz) for a few months decided to chase another one instead of any other German or Asian options. I rationalized that the S's memory seats, 18" wheels and back-up camera justified the upgrade to a '13 G37xS. Along the way I learned to mitigate the "wooden" handling of the G37x by adding the fatter OE S Coupe's rear sway bar (only $120!) to gain a crisper response with less understeer, and added staggered 18" wheels for three season use, keeping the OE 17" for snow. Folks will tell you that the staggered 18" will make the AWD unhappy, but that's patently NOT true: the ATTESA AWD system apportions torque to the front axle ONLY when a 5% slip threshold is exceeded; 225/50-18 up front with 245/45-18 rear has only a -1.5% diff to the rear, so results are outstanding. The G is simply more planted in the twisties with 245 in the rear. Nissan of course doesn't want to hear this, so specs the G37xS with 225/50 all around. Either works if you're saving money, but do NOT ignore the thicker rear bar, as they set up the x with a fat bar up front but a really skinny rear so as to have extreme understeer for AWD users. The non-x Journeys have skinny bars in both locations, so BOTH should be swapped out. But with the x just replace the rear. I had tried the beautiful FUJITA dual CAI on the '09, but outside of a small intake hum on throttle there was no perceivable increase in torque nor fuel eco, so don't bother, as the twin intakes provide much more air than needed. Weston, if you live over potholes maybe you'd prefer the comfier 17", but at least get v-rated rubber (225/55VR17 are easy) for best handling in the twisties...and don't forget the rear swaybar....
