Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2009 Infiniti G37 w/o nav. I purchased all 2103 parts Nav screen, Head
unit, Nav controller and GPS. I don't have a diagram and have about 3 plugs
that won't fit the new units. can anyone make up some pigtails so it's sorta like
a plug and play. If so how much would you charge? I'm limited with this kind of
work.

Yes, the factory nav units were married to specific harnesses. It's probably better that you resell the bundle and chase an aftermarket Pioneer or Alpine et al that will work with the non-NAV harnesses.

I have it done with the help of a guy on my forum. he shared the wiring diagrams and pin identifications. It was actually pretty simple after that.

Here's what I did to upgrade a 2009 Infiniti G37 Non - Nav to a 2013 Touch Screen, with Nav and Back-up Camera. I purchased all 2013 used Nav HU, Touch Screen, Controller and GPS w/ cable and plug. I also purchased a used Plug assembly for all the connects on HU and Screen from a salvage yard $25. HU, Screen, Controller and GPS $299 Total $324.

Hi zmann96, I am attempting to do the same mod as you. Where did you get your adapters that plug into the 2013 module you have in the photo? I am having some difficulty locating them. I have a 2012 G37 convertible I am trying to upgrade from an OEM non nav to a ORM nav. Thanks!

I searched and posted ads on salvage yards throughout the US. Found some stuff on Ebay. the 2013 wiring harness helped a lot.

Thanks, did you have to repin with the new 2013 plugs or did you have to attach jumpers to the original plugs?

KInda both. I got a front dash wiring harness from a 2013 and had to match the pins from old to new stereo . You'll have to check your unit to see if the plugs match the new unit. Mine was probably more of a challenge because of 2009 to 2013.

Actually your old unit looks pretty much like the 2012. Im pretty sure its identical, but I had to reinstall it to the car for now. Did you need to buy a GPS antenna? Also, the grey socket you have labeled DR, what does that control? Seems like a lot of added wires from the original unit.

It was 2 years ago and had to get my head around it to figure everything out. I did get a cable for the gps that was the hardest to find. it had to plug into the unit. That DR was an Identification mark from salvage yard. It took a while to figure all the wire changes I'd be guessing around 50 wires I had to switch and trace from pin numbers

The best thing is to get the schematics of both and compare the pin uses. I wrote down a list and tied to keep it organised . You're welcome

I wanna do this, since my old G had the tech package and I miss it dearly but this looks like a pain to do

It was and very tedious. Lots of wires to transfer from the 3-4 pin plugs.
