2001 trans in 2002 stuck in 4wd hi

Asked by Bil Apr 12, 2014 at 11:49 PM about the 2002 Dodge Durango SLT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Recently installed guaranteed trans from used 4.7L 2001 4WD w/130K miles into 2002
4,7.  Old transfer case worked fin previously.  After installing and getting it bottoned up it
does not go into Overdrive any longer and is stuck in 4HI and sounds like it wants to go
into 2HI but thunks a few time and goes back to 4hi.  No 4LO either. While doing this,
switch light flashes for 2hi then goes back to solid 4hi, even tho switch is still in 2lo.  I am
thinkingthe plug and receiver are wired different but wanted to ask if anyone has
experienced this and how it was remedied or how to rewire.

Thanks

Never had the" pleasure"of that swap but thinking about it , anymore, the body control has the electronic shift solenoid control incorporated, maybe you need that also assuming the same engine is in front of it, the data held by a good recycler should explain the necessary mods.
