2011 Dodge Durango stays stuck in 4th gear

Asked by GuruXCXTV Oct 22, 2018 at 12:19 PM about the 2011 Dodge Durango Citadel RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2011 Dodge Durango citadel. When I
am driving anywhere, highway or in town. It
will have a warning light come on saying that
the fcw is off and it will go into 4th gear. Once
that comes on it stays in 4th gear. You can
not manually shift nothing until I can pull over
and turn the car off and then back on. Any
ideas?  Also when it is working it shifts hard
and at stop signs feels like it wants to stall.

i cant be positive but it sounds like a security issue. have you checked your transmission fluid to make sure it isnt low. some cars have a security feature that puts a vehicle in a certain gear in order to prevent burning up the transmission when it my be low on fluid.
