Read your owners manual! All the 4WD Fords I have owned can be put in 4 high when driving. I would do it under 50 mph and on a straight stretch of road, not in the middle of an icy corner!

Yes it can be placed in and out of 4 wheel high when moving. Don't drive it on dry hard surfaced roads while in 4 wheel drive as excessive tire and 4x4 system wear can result.

OKAY, I AM A WOMAN WITH NO OWNERS MANUEL...IS ALL I HAVE TO DO TO SWITCH TO 4WD IS TURN THE SWITCH OVER TO 4WD IN THE CAB?

Yes just turn the switch. I usually lift my foot slightly of the gas pedal while it shifts and I do the same when turning the 4x4 off. Do not try to shift into 4x4 L while moving! Also, buy an owner's manual. You can get one off of E-bay or order one through www.helminc.com

Also lose the all capital letters. No need to shout.

Okay, thank you Bob for the info but if i wanted to do 4x4 L which i assume means low, why can't i be moving? and what is the difference between Low and high?

4x4 L is an extremely low range for very slow moving and you must be stopped and in neutral to shift to 4x4 low. In all the years of me having a 4 wheel drive I personally have never had the need to utilize 4x4 L. I have shifted to low range several times to see what it does, but have never had a need. Low is not for normal driving on roads or trails. You also need to be stopped and in neutral to shift out of 4x4 L.
