I have a 2003 Ford F250. When I turn the 4x4 knob to 4x4 Low or High the light in the dash board changes accordingly but I don't feel any gear changes under like I have felt on other trucks. 2x4 & 4x4 High feels like the same type of drive but 4x4 Low you can feel it pulling harder. How can I know that my 4x4 is working properly? Any help is appreciated.

When you actuate 4x4 mode, two things happen - the solenoid in the transfer switch engages and the hubs lock in via vacuum. You can determine if the solenoid is doing its job by verifying that the half shafts rotate with the wheels. You can determine if the hubs are locking in by seeing if the half shaft can move without the tires spinning as well.

My F150 is very smooth when going from 2wd to 4wd high. If you try turning sharp on a paved surface at low speeds you will feel the wheels binding if the truck is in 4wd. I would say if 4wd low works then your 4wd high is just fine.
