2012 Equinox

Asked by Mary Jun 21, 2016 at 03:52 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Just bought a 2012 Chevy Equinox 2 months ago was
told at dealer oil had been changed an all other things had
been checked an cleaned everything was good to go. I
was on my way home after work yesterday an I was
coming around a curve an lost all power to my car. Had to
have it towed to the Chevy place near me to b told today
that there was no oil in the motor an the motor was lock
up an possibly the motor blew up there was never any
sounds nor any lights came on an it still showed that the
oil life was 40% an it's still under factory warranty but the
Chevy dealership said the warranty would not cover fixing
it because there was no oil in the motor how can I get
help to find out if this car is a lemon that was sold to me

So you didn't even pull the dipstick to check the oil level and now it is a lemon? Oil life is not "oil level", it is how much life oil has left before needing to be changed. Oil level still needs to be checked periodically.
