1999 Chrysler Sebring won't start

Asked by Chaseskywalker Aug 06, 2017 at 03:32 PM about the 1999 Chrysler Sebring LXi Coupe FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1999 Chrysler Sebring and I went to visit a friend, and after the car
was turned off, he sat on the hood, and then the car started smoking, so we
opened the hood and left it for a few hours. When I came to leave, I started
it, and it started fine, but the gas pedal pushed in but didn't do anything until it
was pushed 3/4 of the way in. I drove it home and turned it off, but now it
won't start again. What I have figured out so far is: When he sat on the hood,
it came in contact with both battery terminals and caused a short circuit. The
throttle cable completely melted, and it won't turn on. Any advice on how to
get it to run again?

Fix all the damaged parts and get a friend that does not weigh so much ;)

Well yeah, but how do I figure out what the damaged parts are? How do I find out what electrical systems were fried?
