how do I release the emergency brake on 1997 Cadillac deville

if it's a foot pedal, push down and it will release.

Or, put the car in drive and it will self-release. Not sure what year they stopped using that method but that is the way my 93 worked.

For the year the cables are most likely a little corroded. Replace the cables check the rear brake hardware/pads/shoes making sure nothing is broke or froze up. if they are disassemble applying brake grease to the proper pivot points and reassemble.

OK EVERYONE FOR THE 1995 CADILLIC DEVILLE WELL THERE IS A PLASTIC SWITCH NEXT TO THE BREKE THAT YOU DECOMPRESS OR LIFT AND IT WILL RELEASE THE BRAKE.
