Should i buy a cadillac with over heat problem

He only wants 300 says his micanaic looked at it
just needs water pump but also the check engine
lights on just don't want to make a bigger problem
for myself

For 300, if it runs/drives you can't really miss, unless it's a basket case. If you want to know for certain talk to the mechanic directly.

No, don't waste your money. The Northstar engines in these cars are prone to all kinds of issues. Google Northstar engine problems and do some reading.
