So alright this can be a tough one! How old is the vehicle? If the vehicle is any older then 2002 change the radiator hoses. IF its just an engine light then change your oil and review your manual on how to reset the lights. If its overheating you may need to get a thicker oil as well as new hoses AND change your radiator Fluid.

If you are getting a temp light only, do not change oil. Go after cooling system causes (as you have) and continue down that path. You did not whether you are throwing any codes that you can trace down. That would be the first place to start. There are temp sensors that can fail and trigger an over temp light to turn on. Best place to start is a code scan.
