Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Whenever I have the cruise control on or am going above a certain speed all of a sudden it will turn off the cruise control and the car likeslows down and jerks a bit and then it reads traction control engaged is there a reason fo r that and is it something that should be fixed and how hard would it be?

Sounds like a speed sensor is failing. It measures wheel spin and engages the traction control if one wheel is signalling it ispinning. When cruise control is engaged, it will shut off if the traction control is engaged. It is a pretty simple replacement. Trick is finding which of the two drive wheels is causing the problem. Good luck.

So does each side have a sensor on it so I could just replace both of them?

There is one for each wheel so, since I am a believer in replacing "sets" of like parts on older cars, I would replace them both. Anyone know if there is a way to check good/bad on the wheel speed sensors?
