2011 Honda Pilot Check Engine Light is on
My 2011 Honda Pilot has 116800 miles. I recently got new spark plugs,
timing belt, water pump, both front axle. Now suddenly the check engine light
is on. I took it back to the same mechanic who worked on it, after scanning
the code (P0420) he said its due to bad catalytic converter.
Could this be due/related to any of the work he performed on the car?
I got a quote for $900 including parts and labor for the issue. Is this a good
Lastly, should I take my pilot to the dealership? Any other tips to fix this
issue? (I have tried the CATAClean additive, no luck yet)
Thanks for your help.
Any mechanic can do this work; even a muffler shop, and $900 sounds reasonable. Catalytic converters don't go out rapidly, they take time and are usually caused by the things you had fixed: misfiring engines.
If you use the 87 octane gas all the time try using the 92 or 93 octane gas had same problem to make along story short took ten tank fill and check engine light coming on and going off four time but now light is out
Hi firebird338 I tried the 93 octane from BP yesterday and the check engine light is now off. Will post an update if its back on. Thanks for the tip!
That’s great it took my vehicle 10 fill ups and light going off and coming on 4 times before before light stayed out.
