Looking at a 2010 Nissan Altima Coupe. It has
180,000 miles and in excellent shape. What do you
Do price research and if the car is in great shape and can be had for a bargain, it could be a good buy. But if you're not a mechanic, have a mechanic look over the car prior to purchase; might be the best $100 you ever spent.
That's a lot of miles , but if it was well maintained you can't judge by mileage alone , any used car is a gamble
It has a CVT. Run Away!
What is a CVT
What do you consider really cheap? They are asking $5K
First, if it has a constant Velocity Transmission (CVT), as FOR warned, see if the transmission was replaced recently and that it has durable life left. Beyond this, cheap enough to give me a buy: If the car checks out by a mechanic, there are no defects beyond minor, and the tires are excellent, I'd say $3,000. That's a grand more than they would get trading it in for a new car.
