My journey keeps cutting off and a gas or oil can symbol pops up?

Got gas, how about oil, it could be low on oil after how long.

the oil has a pull stick at engine to read oil level, pop hood and look for maby yellow plastic t handle ,pull out and see oil on end, if red oil ,you have transmisson check stick, if leaking from last change could go empty and break engine
