2010 CHEVY COBALT GRINDING NOISE

For the last 6 months we have had a ton of grinding noise/vibrating coming
from the front end. It only happens when braking and even then it is not
consistent, sometimes crazy loud other times nothing - so far we have
replaced the tires, brake pads (twice!), rotors, sway bar links, inner and outer
tie rod ends and wheel hub bearings (everything we replaced on both sides).
We've also confirmed that the shields behind the wheels weren't bent and
scraping on things - running  out of ideas!! and money lol whenever we fix
something it seems to be ok for a day or so and then gets worse....any
ideas?

The only thing you haven't mentioned are the rubber bushings at the rear of the lower control arms. They wear out and allow movement in the suspension which is particularly noticeable under breaking. Mine caused a severe vibration, sometimes worse than other times for some reason. Fortunately the parts are not terribly expensive. Getting the old parts off is a bit of a challenge although I did mine on my driveway with normal hand tools. I believe you can buy the complete control arm with new bushings already installed which is the quickest and easiest way to do the job. As always youtube it to see what you'll be up against to get the old ones off.
