Asked by Gene Nov 28, 2023 at 12:24 PM about the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox LTZ AWD

Question type: General

So far nothing new has been added. Anybody else notice this or is it on my end?
My infotainment system went belly up, no heat, AC, turn signal noise, display screen all squiggly lines. Dealer says no longer serviced, charged a diagnostic fee and said sorry and good bye. Used units need to be reprogrammed in by the dealer and here they won't touch it, have 4 GM dealers within 40 miles and no one wants to deal with it. Say goodbye to dealers from here on out, and maybe GM products all together.
Found an aftermarket system that will do everything but turn signal noise, getting it installed as i write this. Any ideas on how to hook up some signal general into the turn signal circuits?

Update: Wow that aftermarket unit is awesome, I can pull serial data and read it on the screen, trouble codes, TPMS pressure readings, AC and heat controls now work and the sound is incredible, much better than stock, only drawback is AM radio is very poor but I don’t use that so no big deal.

Do you remember just a few years ago when this section got more questions in a day than it now gets in a month or two? I never thought CarGurus was taking this section seriously and thought that they might try to eliminate this Questions section all together. Maybe now is the time... Soon we'll all be saying, nice to have known you.

Yep I believe you right, with all this electronic stuff and manufactures locking everything down so you need dealer quality testing equipment just to do read simple sensor data it's either going to lock everybody out or the whole thing collapse around everyone's ears. Just look back and see how many Techs just quit this forum. I was a Tech for well over 35 years and the stuff that happening today is nuts. And the shops today... well I don't want to go there. I even told my nephew that was going for Diesel Tech to get out now and the other day he did. And got into emergency services and loves it even though he is in training. Good Luck out there guys and gals who dare to venture forth in this nightmare.
